introduction

My name is Edwin Garcia, I was born and raised in Los Angeles California. I am a sixteen year old high school senior who just joined one of the most rigorous classes in our school, and like many of my peers i don't know what to expect out of this class, except a challenge. My mom and dad both came from another country in order to give me an opportunity to have a better life. Thinking of the sacrifices makes me very motivated and encourages me to always do my best. Now in This class we were all assigned to our very own topic which we are to write about throughout this upcoming year, My topic was recent speeches.
As times pass by more and more powerful speeches are heard. Speeches which motivate people to move towards the same goal. Speeches which can make a direct impact in someones life. Speakers like Dr. Martin Luther King, Mahatma Ghandi, or even senator Barack Obama, and John McCain's speeches create impact in our world. It will be my job to take and analyze some of these speeches. I will break them down into parts and explain them, because these speeches aren't always the easiest to understand, but within them they always have a very deep meaning and message.
As for our class, I know that all of us have the potential to comprehend the advanced concepts of the English language. Yes it is a tough class and it will require a lot more work and decication from us, but we willl all make it, and we will all take that exam pass it and would have a better transcript than other students have, and would have eliminated a class we would have taken in college.

Dear Edwin,
I have read your post and it was very interesting. I think that you have a potential in writing and I think you'll do great on the exam. Having that said, I think that your topic is very goos and it should be very interesting. Speeches are indeed one the most or the most important things when it comes to communication. Speeches are the communications that the person can have towards an specific group. Nonetheless, I hope that your topic will be interesting and I hope you have fun in this class.

Edwin, i think that if you put a lot of effort into your writing and you don't procrastinate (not saying that you do)you can achieve high standards. you are right this ap class is hard but we are can pass the exam if we tried and have the money for.

Edwin,
I find your blog one that could be very useful to me. Many times i have found myself struggling with speeches because I didn't know what the speaker was trying to say. Maybe now I could come to your blog and see if you have a speech i read or heard and but haven't understood and you could explain it to me. I feel that you are a bright man who will be able to write this blog and break down speeches for us . Good luck in your blog.

Edwin,
I really enjoyed your welcoming post. I think that if you do your best you will achieve anything you want. I think that your post was really good because many of us can relate to it.
I think you have one of the best topics because at times speeches are difficult to understand. Hopefully through your blog I will be able to understand the purpose of a speech and its content.

Dear Edwin,
Reading your post has really helped me see that recent speeches that we've heard of have had an impact on our lifes and others lifes. Like you metioned Dr. Matin Luther King Jr. had a speech of his dream of seeing colored and white people together and treated equally an same. Many of these great speech makers have changed the way we live today and also have help us see that we can make a change. It has help others write and say speechec that make us see that it's time for chang and we need to do something about it. Do you hope to become a goog speeech person? Do you want to make an impat on peoples lifes?

Perhaps you should also examine speeches that haven't brought so much great into our world. Speeches made by Stalin and Hitler are powerful even though the purpose behind them wasn't so great. They might not be so recent, but they were heard in the past fifty-ish years and they did create a huge impact. But studying all sorts of speeches, good and bad, we can learn a lot more.

Edwin,
I enjoyed reading a bit about you and your family and I can tell that you really do want to succeed. I am excited to read your future blogs, and to see what kind of speeches you decided to use.
I noticed you mentioned a lot of people that have made a positive difference in our world, but what about all other speeches like Hitler, or Stalin. They might have not been the most positive people, but great speeches thy were. Just curious as to know your list of speeches.

E.G,
Thanks for actually looking forward to my blog and the same can be said about yours as well. Yeah it very true what Jennifer A. said don't only think about speeches that have done a greater good in the world but also from people like Hitler and Fidel Castro and other people that have done some kind of damage to the world, because even though they may have done many bad things to the world they were great speakers as well by even motivating their own people to what they want them to do. I really liked your intro and it is very true for some of us if not for all of us, that our parents sacrificed themselves for us to have a better life ahead of us and have a better future for us. And i believe the best way to pay them back for such sacrifices is to become very successful ourselves and happy. So good point and i admire you for such recognition of what not only your parents have done for you but as well as for all of us. I would like to recommend you the speech that we read from Nelson Madenla a few weeks ago because i found that speech to be very amazing if not beautiful. So once again great admiration for you and i and my peers can see a great future ahead for you keep up the good work and maybe you can give me some pointers to becoming a greater player in Call Of Duty 4.

Dear Edwin,
When i read your introduction i couldnt agree more that we should appreciate what our parents has done for us and we should repay them back by staying on task in school and show them that we could do it. I came from another country myself and it was tough for me at 1st but i got the hang of it. Anyways I think your blog will be one of the interesting blogs because i hate speeches myself i mean like just looking at them and reading them for hours makes it boring expecially if i dont even know what they are talking about. Well as a suggestion i think you should also talk about the speech structure like the 3 ways they persuaded people(logos pathos ethos) so we could get a better look at ways people use it in the speeches and how we could use it in our writing as well.

Edwin i agree when you say that we are all able to comprehend writting and what we will be doing in this class. You are a good writter and with a little more effort you can easily increase your abilities of a writer.

I was planning on sniping you guy’s down tonight yet I found myself here enjoying the great writing of my colleagues such as yourself. The land of opportunity, right? I agree, my parents too made sacrifices in order for me to be in the position I am in now. Sometimes I fail to recognize all the work and effort that they’ve put towards allowing me to better myself. When I think about that I can’t cease to realize that I must feed off their struggles, feed off their pain, and use that as my source of energy. I have a friend who’d always tell me, “Feed off the pain, take it like a man!” I never thought I’d implement those words into my life until I realized that the only person who can stop me Is myself.

As you know I play basketball and it’s gotten to a point where basketball is an extremely important aspect of my life. When you began to talk about recent speeches I went back to a couple weeks ago when we had the Olympic Games. I was thinking about all the words that were said around the lockers, hotel rooms, basketball courts, pools, and I can assure you that those words were of great meaning. As a suggestion and as something I would greatly love to read about I’d like to invite you to look onto what is said around in the world of sports. What is being said around in the locker rooms? What do such words mean?

Talk to me, let’s work together. Let’s be an example to others about the unity in teens while decoding recent speeches! Tell me you don’t dig that sentence that revolves around three of the topics discussed in our blogs! Ha! I dig it too, baby! Hope to hear from you soon.

Hello Edwin,
I really don't know who you are. So maybe a proper introduction would help? Well, if you don't know me, my name is Diana.
Now, I believe that your parent's migration for opportunity can relate to several of your peers.
I can't wait to see what speeches you pop out with for your next blog. I like to be eduacated, so i hope you can teach me something new.

Dear Edwin,
As I read your post as my peer in many classes, I think you have an advantage in your topic. Also that it would help if someone broke down speeches; because as you said they aren’t so easy to understand, many of the speeches I’ve heard are very difficult, and it gets me lost; and also confused. I really like your topic I think it would help out many students.
Sincerely,
Masyeli M.

Edwin, since you've chosen to address recent speeches, I expect you to do some digging in news sites. Start looking for transcripts from politicians. How are both sides using words to try to sway the American public? What appeal is more Republican in nature? Which Democratic? Do you notice commonalities?

Oh, the times we live in!
