This speech shows a lot of repetition of small phrases. Before that one phrase, "yes we can" Obama gives several examples of things that this country has done that seemed impossible. The whole speech was about the power of America to change and to allow new opportunities to different people. It is true, we have changed. There were slaves before, and now we have a African-American man ready to govern this country. Women couldn't vote, and there were two women in this last election. Obama might have not mentioned these examples, but from what he says it is very clear that he wants to say that in American everything is possible.
Besides this he makes the audience feel a part of this victory. He makes us feel like we have just taken a step towards a brighter future. When He speaks about how his campaign grew.
"It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation’s apathy; who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep; from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on the doors of perfect strangers; from the millions of Americans who volunteered, and organized, and proved that more than two centuries later, a government of the people, by the people and for the people has not perished from this Earth."
Bitter cold, scorching heat, apathy, has not perished. These give this small paragraph a feeling of hardwork. Obama's appeal to the emotions of the people is present throughout his speech. No one can deny that they felt like screaming as they heard this speech.

Dear Edwin,
It is true that America, this country has made a lot of changes with hard work. These changes have made us grow and has taught us that anything is possible. I'm glad that e have an African American president and from the speeches that he made throughtout the time that he was running they were really strong and appealing. Obama in all of his speeches included personal experience that he went through and he see's that we go through everyday and he hopes to make a change for that.
That is a good speech. I like how you enjoy talking about the president. I think you should put the whole speech so those who havent heard or read the speech. By doing this the people will have a little more information of what was his speech. You have to remember that we are in the web people from anywhere could read this and could have no idea what you are talking about. You should be a little more detailed. You had very good ideas of his speech and showing what he had inside his speech.
You cannot say that you felt your heart tug when you heard Obama speak. That man has such a way with words that it's amazing.
If you go to youtube and look up Obama's speeches, some recording artists have managed to turn our future president's words into an inspiring, uplifting song that just really hits you in the heart and makes you wanna do something.
Obama's usage of rhetorical strategies are just....uberly awesome.
Edwin,
what about Obama's other speeches? does the speeches contain some sort of repitition? i also have notice that in the speech that obama made when he won the election.
why do you think he uses repition in his speeches? if you have no idea you should think about it. if you do i would like to hear it.
